Puffins have been busy over the last few weeks creating sculptures of sea animals based around the work of the artist Robert Bradord. The sculptures are nearing completion and the children can’t wait to share their creations with you in the family assembly.

Puffins have been identifying places where rubbish collects in the playground. We have then identified which items of rubbish could have been recycled.

Times tables
Puffins have been busy this morning working on their times tables. We are having a huge push in Year 4 on learning our times tables. Please could we make sure that times table rockstars is still being used at home. I have attached the link to the website.

Tomb Paintings!
This afternoon Year 4 have been looking at Egyptian tomb paintings as part of our ‘Temples, Tombs and Treasures’ topic. We learnt that the paintings inside each tomb were a reflection of the life of the Pharaoh buried inside. In groups, we discussed what each paintings tells us about the life of the Pharaoh. As you can see, we came up with some fantastic ideas and thoughts! Check back here next week to see our own attempts at tomb paintings…

Roman Numerals!
Today we used a fun learning strategy to start our Roman numerals unit. Roman numbers were widely used throughout the Roman Empire in everyday life, and we still use them in this day and age. We started the lesson by discussing where we can see Roman numbers in our daily lives and then we talked about how to combine them together to make different numbers. Can you spot any in your house?

The sound experiment!
Today year 4 completed a science experiment investigating how sound travels. Using decibel meters, the children measured the sound from a drum from three distances: 5,10 and 15 meters. As a year group, year 4 planned the experiment last week and carried it out today in the village square. Back in the classroom, results were recorded, graphs were drawn and a conclusion was written! A fun morning of Science!
