Wednesday Reading Task: 

On a Wednesday, your reading task will be to read a chapter from ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell.

Comprehension Questions:

The River:

Use a dictionary to find the definition of the above words.

  1. On Page 34, what was wrong with the first two trees?
  2. On Pages 35 to 36, what clues are there that Fred is not as well as he says he is?
  3. On Page 35, why has the author chosen the green to be an ‘underwater, sunken-treasure colour’?

Challenge – In this chapter, things are starting to look more positive for the children. Make a list of ‘reasons to be cheerful’.

This week we are going to continue to be looking at MEASURES

In this lesson, you will continue to learn about calculating with money. You will be adding amounts of money and keeping a running total, whilst working within a given set of parameters. You will continue to tabulate your results and work out combinations of money that will meet specific targets. We will also deepen the pattern spotting within our findings. We will work systematically to keep an organised approach.
