What’s the Time?

Over the last week, Kites have been learning how to convert analogue time to digital and vice versa. Being able to read the time on an analogue and digital clock is a key skill the children need and they need to feel confident in reading the time accurately. Any opportunity for the children to read the time at home is a good opportunity! Being confident in reading analogue and digital clocks confidently and accurately comes with lots of experience and practice!

Sketching Sea Creatures

Kites were busy sketching their sea creatures before lunch today. Sketching is a great way for children to experiment with shape and line and to use their observational skills to consider their drawing stimulus carefully. No erasers were used in this session to reinforce to the children that there are no mistakes in art, only experiments and learning opportunities.

Finishing Our Persuasive Letters

The children have been researching ocean pollution and recycling and have written letters to Mrs Folker expressing their feelings about the state of the oceans. Their letters aim to persuade Mrs Folker to buy recycling bins for every classroom so the school can reduce its plastic footprint.

Whenever possible, have your children help with the recycling at home – This can include identifying what can and can’t be recycled!

The Daily Mile

Each and every day, the children at Coopers Edge School complete a daily mile. Kites were very lucky today as they got to complete 2 daily miles – one as a class and one with their reading buddies from Year 1. It’s really lovely to see the children building their relationships and supporting each other in reading and running!

Learning Through Play

Kites were playing multiplication and division games after 99 club today ready for their ultimate times table test for tomorrow! Games like these are a great way to help children learn their maths facts and have fun at the same time. If you would like some multiplication board games or flash cards for your child to play with at home then please let Miss Phillips know and she will have a pack made up for you!

Tomorrow, Kites will be bringing home question stems which will support them with their comprehension. You can use these questions when your child reads to you to deepen their understanding of the book.
