* Buddy Reading *
Another successful Buddy Reading session this afternoon. Lots of lovely comments shared by the Y4s, saying how their Y1 Reading Buddy read their book better this week than last week. Practise makes perfect and retreading books definitely helps to build up fluency.

This week’s spellings!
Children will be tested tomorrow. Please continue to practice at home in preparation.
The set labelled ‘Book 4 unit 8’ are for both classes. The set labelled ‘Book 3 unit 8’ are the spellings for Miss Kerslake and Miss Radkova’s group.

* Buddy Reading *
We had such a lovely afternoon yesterday. We met our new reading buddies and found out lots about them. Each week the Y4 pupils are going to support the Y1 children with their reading. We can’t wait for next week already!
Reading, reading, reading!
We’ve been extremely busy assessing reading these past few weeks. Please check in your child’s yellow reading record for a little note about the results of this. A number of children have moved up book bands. Continue reading at home- read aloud to a grown up and practise emphasising emotions and expressions when you read. Look at punctuation for clues on how to read the text.
Spelling Bees!
Kites- Our times tables news!
We’ve been practising our times tables and in the last few weeks, have all joined special clubs to help us.
These children have successfully scored full marks for three consecutive weeks in their club and have all progressed on to the next stage. Well done!
Children in Need. Fundraising fun!
We’ve had an amazing (yet very busy) day filled with lots of fundraising activities.
Our day started with taking part in the Children in Need workout! We were then ready for lots of Pudsey-based learning alongside the planned activities around school. Finding out what the money raised today will go towards and how our donations will help others was insightful.
We have: eaten some very tasty cakes, brought some toys, added 10 pence coins to the line, had a go at guessing the number of sweets in the jar, guessed the names of the big teddy bears and this afternoon we will be watching the nationwide duck race.
What a fantastic charity to support! We have all had a wonderful time fundraising (and even fitted in some of our usual lessons too!)
